The Company
Plastod was founded in 1951 on the basis of the
acquired experience in the medical field since 1915. In those days the
Company performed some studies to identify which adhesive could better
suit the coating of medical devices, creating also some specific
formulations including transdermal ones. All material properties such as
conformability, resistance, hypoallergenicity and absorbing capacity
were well defined and classified.
Today Plastod owns a modern and specific knowledge of the medical field which is turned into an advanced and complete range of plasters suitable for pharmacy, hospital, home and sport care. The entire production process takes place in the plant located in Calderara di Reno which covers an area of around 8000sqm, employing 100 people of whom 75% are engaged in production. Plastod manufactures a broad assortment of devices under it own trademark - widespread in all distribution channels - but mainly a large variety of personalizations as per its Customers' brand, supplying some of the most prestigious medical companies, in Italy and world-wide. The annual amount produced reaches 400 million plasters and 100 million dressings. In order to satisfy special needs, the production capacity can be further increased thanks to the significant flexibility of the organization.
The know-how - which includes the building of the converting machines - together with the adaptable production process makes Plastod the best partner to carry out a lot of projects, meeting both the demanding needs of Consumer and Commercial Contractor and the strictly professional requirements of the health care operators.
